mid-1947, Frenchman Emile Gagnan had immigrated to Canada under the
patronage of the Canadian subsidiary of L'Aire Liquide, Canadian
Liquid Air Ltd. (CLA).
The
place chosen for Gagnan to set up his laboratory was Montreal, in
the French-speaking province of Quebec. Then his family also came to
live in January 1948.
